I’m so happy to be documenting and sharing the ideas of others in this FS life! This one is from Sandra Para, who has more great ideas for upcycling UAB boxes on her Pinterest page. Below is her story about adapting to a new post – and creating a headboard from UAB boxes.
“When we found out our next move was in Europe, we knew we would get a much smaller place than the one in Guyana, so I started researching ways that I could utilize space and save money. Thats when HHE and UAB Boxes came to mind.
In DC I purchased good exacto knives and a box cutter and started working in some small projects with Amazon leftover boxes to get acquianted to card box construction. see some examples of my work here.
ALL YOU NEED:
-3 UAB boxes
-Fabric (ours was gifted by someone who left your last post)
Time: gazillion hours.
When we got to post we needed a much bigger bed and decided to combine our two twins to make a king. Our first problem was the headboards: we could not combined them due to their round shape, so we had them removed. I purchased a bed bridge and a strap (total budget $18). You can see it in the final picture but we don’t feel it, once we get a down comforter it will go unnoticed. The bed looked bare so we needed a headboard and here is how we did it.
My mother helped me with the sewing, it took some time and a lot of work, but it was worth it! We also had extra furniture, so we made pillows and turned an extra coffee table into a “bench”.
Now I encourage all my friends to think outside the box!”
