Whenever someone goes looking to cover the ubiquitous (and hideous) Drexel flat-top patterned couches, the Ektorp is mentioned. Ikea slipcovers are versatile, affordable, and quickly update the feel of a couch. But Ikea ships very few products, and they are often out of stock. I’ve also heard some complaints about washing and the price of shipping, even to pouch or DPO/APO.
I will say that I have not personally purchased sofa slipcovers yet. This is our first post abroad and we have embraced the golden burlap stripe Kara model (future post on that). However, I have done a lot of searching for armchair covers and keep stumbling on companies that specify Ektorp Model fitting slipcovers. They may be slightly more expensive, but these companies have readily available online stock and a lot more options. Click the image links below to see each site.
Have you tried any of these? Do you know of another site I’m missing? Comment below and I’ll add them here as well as Where to Shop!
Do you know the exact model or SKU of that Drexel flat-top sofa? I’ve hunted down a few matches on the Drexel website, but having no personal experience living with them it’s hard to make a definitive selection. Comments please :)
Knesting.com: Custom slipcovers in on-trend fabric choices (many I recognize from top lines at fabric.com). You can also get pillow covers to coordinate and swap out.
Bemz.com: They offer free fabric samples in case you can’t make up your mind, and use exclusively natural fibers (all pre-washed). A lot of beautiful florals and mid-century patterns, as well as some non-boring neutrals.
In case anyone wasn’t aware, you can sometimes order Ikea and other brand slipcovers through Prime.
SureFit.net is pretty well known around this crowd, and seem to get especially great reviews for their tight, streched fits that don’t scream “slipcover”. Do you know the particular models that work best? Comment or message me, and I’ll index them on the site.
Blue Velvet?! Yes please! Comfortworks.com is offers heavy duty, natural, and even velvet blends in the Ektorp shape.
