“I’m going to make everything around me beautiful – that will be my life.”
Elsie De Wolf
Hi, I’m Liz. Here I am, on our first post abroad, starting this website… I don’t want to call it a blog because I’m not super interested in writing. Design interests me, and expressing my creativity visually within my home. I can’t help but try to make things around me more beautiful, more functional, more memorable. I don’t always succeed, but I’m never sorry I tried. And there is no way to hide my enthusiasm for sharing and learning all the time! I hope this site grows to have many contributors like me: Creatives who happen to be “Trailing Spouses” too, sharing their ideas together.
Being an EFM has been incredibly interesting so far, especially where my personal design ideals met the above-mentioned urge to create. Already I’ve encountered many kindred spirits and even more of those blank “but-you-only live-here-two-years-so-why-bother-making-new-curtains” people.
Yeah, two years. Guys, whatever else happens over the next two years, I will live here. So now this is my house. I have to feel happy here, to make things here, to care for my family and friends here. I’m calling this little web project “Adaptation House” because I think this mindset separates those who make it abroad from those who fall apart. The way I see it, if I can’t adapt and make this place my home, then I’m just counting down the days to go home.
